LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A poll of school leaders in Michigan finds 79% believe state government will shut down on October 1st.
They do not have confidence that a budget deal can be reached before September 30th.
The survey conducted by Michigan School Business Officials found 15% have already cut their fiscal year budget and 44% are considering doing that.
The lack of a state budget means schools will have cash flow issues starting October 20th with the state aid payment being delayed.
Payroll, vendor payments, and other problems with operations will be at risk.
