KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 42-year-old Kalamazoo man has been sentenced to prison in connection with a 2023 homicide that occurred on the city’s east side.
Jason Blough pled no contest in August to involuntary manslaughter and being a habitual offender.
He was sentenced Monday to between 10 and 30 years in prison, and was given credit for 673 days served.
Blough was charged with stabbing 62-year-old Heriberto Contreras Jr. on November 12, 2023 after the two argued the night before. Both were homeless, and Blough was arrested later that day.
The stabbing happened in the 800 block of East Crosstown Parkway.
A trial earlier this year ended in a hung jury on June 4, before Blough entered his plea in August.
