LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – All Secretary of State branch offices in Michigan will close Wednesday, October 1st if no state budget is in place by Tuesday.
Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson says online services and self-service stations will still be available, but she is encouraging people that have business that needs to be done to do it now.
Benson also said if she is elected governor in 2026, she will do everything she can to put “the voices of working people of Michigan” front and center in every decision she makes.
She says to her, a budget shutdown is “emblematic of a broken system, where we need more leaders willing to collaborate and work together, not go it alone to make a point or prove a political posture.”
