CONSTANTINE TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 34-year-old Three Rivers man was killed overnight Sunday when his motorcycle struck a pick-up truck in St. Joseph County’s Constantine Township.
Just before 1:00 a.m. deputies
with the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle traffic crash at the intersection of US-131 and Riverside Drive.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle was traveling north on U.S. 131 when the pick-up driven by a 40-year-old Mattawan man entered the intersection westbound on Riverside Drive into the path of the motorcycle, resulting in a collision.
The motorcycle operator was ejected and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The pick-up truck’s driver was uninjured.
Investigators say speed does
not appear to have been a factor. Alcohol and drug test results are pending.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police, Constantine Police Department, White Pigeon Police Department, Constantine Fire
Department, LifeCare Ambulance, MDOT, WMU Medical Examiner’s Office, Brokers Towing, and Eley Funeral Home.
