BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Battle Creek Police are asking for help from anyone who visited Leila Arboretum in the past week, after officers arrested a man suspected of suspicious and potentially threatening behavior in the park.
Investigators are looking to speak with park visitors who may have seen or interacted with the man or witnessed concerning behavior. Any information could help strengthen the case.
Last Thursday, October 2nd, a citizen reported that a man had been lingering in the park daily and watching or following female visitors. In response, the BCPD Fusion Center and Detective Bureau conducted surveillance using unmarked vehicles.
On October 2nd, Officers located a man matching the description. During the operation, an undercover female detective was placed in the area and was accosted by the suspect. Surveillance units immediately intervened, and the man was arrested and lodged at the Calhoun County Jail.
At this time, police are not releasing a physical description of the suspect to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation. However, anyone who noticed suspicious behavior in the park — especially involving a man watching or following others — is encouraged to report it.
