HOMER, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Some residents of the Village of Homer got quite shock, after they received an incorrect notice that they hadn’t paid their tax bill.
The Calhoun County Treasurer’s Office says it has identified a technical error that occurred during the upload of the 2025 Homer Village delinquent tax records. As a result, delinquent notices were incorrectly generated and sent to all property owners within the Village of Homer, regardless of payment status.
“We understand that receiving this type of notice can be concerning,” said Melinda Weaver, Calhoun County Treasurer. “We want to assure residents that this was a clerical error, and we are taking immediate steps to correct the records and issue accurate information.”
The Treasurer’s Office says property owners who have already paid their 2025 Homer Village taxes on time can disregard the delinquent notice they received. The office says it is working closely with their software vendor to resolve the issue and prevent similar errors in the future.
