KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo County board gave final approval to the winning bidders in their first Community Grant program.
The goal was to create a process, where there had been mainly disorganization before, to get county funds to worthwhile local projects.
The board set up an application process and staff members and commissioners evaluated the proposals.
Last night, they finally settled who would share the $400,000 set aside for the grants.
Vice Chair John Taylor read off the winners.
Each of them will get a share of the money to pursue their project or community program and will be required to report back on their success in a year.
