KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Comstock Township’s former deputy fire chief will spend the next 18 months on probation for a drunk driving crash in June that injured 11-year-old La’Shae Parker.
Michael Dyer was sentenced yesterday after he pled no contest to the charges in September.
He had spent 39-years with the township’s fire department and was one year away from retirement when he was fired after issuing the plea.
The girl’s family was very upset he wasn’t sentenced to prison, but the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office and Dyer’s defense attorneys jointly recommended probation.
