KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Detectives from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety believe the body they found Wednesday was that of a man who had been reported missing by family members.
The skeletal remains of the 62-year-old were in a wooded area near Milham Park.
Wednesday around 5:00 p.m. KDPS officers were alerted to possible human remains in a wooded section of the 4200 block of Lovers Lane. Due to fading daylight and the need to properly preserve the area, they ssy officers secured the scene overnight.
Thursday detectives and crime lab personnel, working alongside the Medical Examiner’s Office, conducted a detailed search of the area and located the skeletal remains.
KDPS says the man’s name will not be released until a positive identification is made and his family has been notified.
They say circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear. Detectives are awaiting autopsy results to help determine the cause and manner of death.
