KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 16-year-old male who was one of two teens shot and hospitalized Sunday evening has now been identified as a suspect in an unrelated armed home invasion that occurred Saturday in Kalamazoo.
Police believe the shootings happened in the 600 block of Harding Place around 8:40 p.m. Sunday. Both teens were transported to a local hospital, where they were treated and released. Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety detectives say they are still working to confirm the exact location of the incident. Limited information has been provided to investigators at this stage.
During the course of the investigation, the 16-year-old victim was identified as a suspect in the Saturday home invasion in the 1000 block of Interfaith Boulevard.. After being discharged from the hospital, he was taken into custody.
Monday the teen was formally charged with home invasion and two counts of felonious assault. He has been lodged at the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home.
KDPS says the cases remain under investigation.
