DEARBORN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 24, 2025) – A “safety net” for motorists is coming this Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Beginning at 6 PM Wednesday, and running through 6 AM next Monday, December 1st, the Automobile Association of America will open up its towing system to all, across several states, in an effort to get impaired drivers off of roadways. The “Tow to Go” initiative has removed nearly 30,000 motorists since its inception 25 years ago.
Those who do need a ride home during this time period can call 855-286-9246, and a Triple-A truck or contractor will be on hand within an hour, under normal conditions, to take the driver and the vehicle home for free within a 10-mile radius. However, as Steve Giffel, Senior Fleet Manager for the Auto Club Group points out, one cannot make a reservation for this service.
Triple-A is projecting a record 2.6 million persons will be traveling at least 50 miles from home in Michigan this coming weekend, with 90 percent opting for motoring as opposed to other means of transportation.
