KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Just ahead of the Thanksgiving Day holiday, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning from Wednesday at 7:00 a.m. until Thursday at 7:00 p.m. with heavy snow and gusty winds expected.
The NWS office in Grand Rapids says total snow accumulations could be between two and seven inches, with winds gusting 45 to 55 mph.
The warning includes Kalamazoo, Calhoun, Allegan, Barry, and Van Buren Counties.
Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Visibility and road conditions may change rapidly over short distances in lake effect snow.
