PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A couple of important local positions have new hires taking over this week, and both worked their way up through their organizations to obtain the top slot.
Last night, the Portage city clerk gave the oath of office to Matt Wolfe to be their new public safety chief. He knows the department.
“I’ve worked for the city for 30 years I’ve held every promoted position within the police division,” says Wolfe.
Now he will oversee the combined police and fire departments.
Deb Lenz had been the #2 person in the Kalamazoo County Health Department.
Last night, the Kalamazoo County board approved her bid to become the new health director, filling the vacancy left by the departure of Jim Rutherford.
“I’m excited for this new chapter and I look forward to working with all of you,” Lenz told commissioners.
For both, today will be their first official day in their new positions.
