KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZOAM/FM) Members of the Professional Hockey Players’ Association (PHPA) have served the ECHL with a strike notice, indicating a potential work stoppage starting this Friday, the day after Christmas if a new collective bargaining agreement is not reached.
The Kalamazoo Wings, like all other teams in the 30-team developmental league, would be directly impacted by the potential strike, which coincides with the resumption of play after the holiday break.
The union, which authorized the strike last Friday, cites stalled negotiations since January 2025 and alleged “unfair labor practices” by the league as the primary reasons for the potential walkout.
