The Tampa Bay Buccaneers opened the 21-day practice window for defensive tackle Calijah Kancey on Wednesday.
Kancey went on injured reserve on Sept. 17 with a torn pectoral muscle that required what was reported at the time to be season-ending surgery.
The Buccaneers (7-8), who are one game behind the NFC South-leading Carolina Panthers with two games left, can activate Kancey from IR at any time during the 21-day window.
Tampa Bay visits the Miami Dolphins on Sunday before closing out the regular season at home against Carolina.
Kancey, 24, sustained the injury during the second quarter of the Buccaneers’ 20-19 victory over the host Houston Texans on Sept. 15.
The 2023 first-round draft pick (19th overall) has recorded 11.5 sacks, 29 quarterback hits, 55 tackles, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble in 28 career games (all starts).
