KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – One person is dead and two others injured after a crash in Kalamazoo Wednesday afternoon.
Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to a report of a t-bone crash at 1:27 p.m. at the intersection of Burdick Street and Hutchinson Street.
Upon arrival, officers found two heavily damaged vehicles. One vehicle was occupied by an unresponsive female driver who required extrication. Officers immediately rendered life-saving measures, however, the driver, a 68-year-old woman, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 19-year-old male, reported shoulder pain and was evaluated for his injuries.
KDOS sats their preliminary investigation indicates the female driver had stopped at the intersection of Hutchinson Street and Burdick Street before attempting a southbound turn onto Burdick Street. Before the turn could be completed, a northbound vehicle traveling on Burdick Street struck her vehicle, causing it to flip multiple times.
The crash remains under investigation.
