BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The CEO of a Battle Creek based non-profit organization has been arrested on fraud and other charges.
Monday, December 22 at about 2:00 p.m., members of the Battle Creek Police investigations unit executed multiple search warrants in the city, concluding an investigation that began nearly two years ago. The investigation focused on R.I.S.E. CORP. and its president, Damon Brown, in connection with alleged financial fraud.
During searches at several locations, investigators seized numerous documents, electronic devices, and a stolen firearm with ammunition.
Brown was taken into custody and lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on charges including welfare fraud, tax revenue fraud, fraud under false pretenses, wire fraud, embezzlement, forgery, felon in possession of a firearm, felony firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, and resisting and obstructing.
The case remains under investigation.
No further information is being released by the Battle Creek Police Department released at this time.
