A local committee has already been working for months to come up with plans for local celebrations and to make sure they are well attended.
Dr. Sharon Carlson says they are working with limited funds and resources.
She acknowledges that not everyone may be in the mood for a party like this right now.
Dr. Carlson says 20 veterans of the Revolutionary War buried in the county will be celebrated and honored.
Right now they are working on a logo and the creation of a website to tie all the events together and promote them.
Officially it’s called the semiquincentennial, and most of the big celebrations will be taking place in Philadelphia, New York and along the eastern seaboard in the 13 original colonies.
