YPSILANTI, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 53-year-old man has surrendered to Ypsilanti police after a standoff that lasted more than 30 hours.
He was armed with a sword and was banging on neighbors’ doors Sunday afternoon when police were called to the home on Cross Street between Summit and Westmoreland streets.
Police used flash bang grenades, tear gas, and a megaphone in their efforts to get the man to leave the home.
The negotiations started around 3 p.m. Sunday and continued until he surrendered Monday evening.
