LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Republican state House Speaker Matt Hall of Richland says he is looking forward to working with Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer on issues like literacy, healthcare affordability, and property tax relief this year.
Hall says economic development has been moved to the back burner after it “lost momentum” at the end of 2025.
He says the House will work on that “in the background” and has a goal of reaching an agreement on economic development reform by the end of 2026.
Whitmer says she is serious about addressing literacy issues this year.
