BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Battle Creek Police executed a search warrant Wednesday at a residence in the 1000 block of Columbia Avenue, resulting in the arrest of two men linked to a shooting that took place in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day in the 200 block of Kingman Avenue.
The operation involved the department’s Gang Suppression Unit, supported by the Special Investigations Unit, Emergency Response Team, Crime Lab, and the Emmett Township Department of Public Safety. During the search, officers recovered hundreds of rounds of live ammunition and a stolen firearm from one of the suspects’ rooms.
Child Protective Services was notified and a child living in the home was safely removed.
The suspects, ages 21 and 32, were taken into custody and lodged at the Calhoun County Jail. The 21-year-old faces charges including Assault with Intent to Murder, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Felon in Possession of Ammunition. The 32-year-old was charged with Assault with Intent to Murder and Felon in Possession of Ammunition.
The Battle Creek Police Department stated that the investigation remains active, with no further details released at this time.
