KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A local pastor is bringing a famous acquaintance of his to Kalamazoo to first perform his artistry, and then to talk about declining support for the arts in school curriculums.
Pastor Millard Southern III of Allen Chapel AME in Kalamazoo says the concert will be in a few weeks.
He says Marsalis will also participate in a discussion about arts funding the next day.
Pastor Southern says supporting the arts is essential to a well-rounded education.
Marsalis will be performing with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.
Tickets to the event on February 1st, are available at through Miller Auditorium.
