LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist has ended his run for governor this fall and instead is seeking the office of Secretary of State.
Gilchrist says his decision came after several months of campaigning for governor across the state and hearing from people about threats to democratic institutions and the integrity of elections.
He says his goal is to make “government actually work for people” and says he is not done.
Gilchrist is the fifth straight lieutenant governor to unsuccessfully run for governor.
