BERLIN, Feb 5 (Reuters) – Snow and freezing rain hit Berlin’s airport on Thursday morning, causing airlines to delay or cancel multiple departing flights.
The airport said on its website that no takeoffs were taking place due to weather conditions and asked passengers to check the status of their flights with airlines.
Regional public broadcaster RBB reported jets could not be de-iced due to rain that quickly turned into ice.
At 10:15 a.m. (0915 GMT), there were still no flights taking off, according to flight-tracking website Flightradar24.
Fresh snow and freezing rain fell during the night and in the morning in eastern Germany, also causing disruptions on roads and for rail traffic.
