Western Michigan University renames under-construction dormitory Valley Oaks

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The new residence hall under construction at Western Michigan University now has a name: Valley Oaks.

The WMU board of trustees had named it Golden Oaks in April 2025, but changed it at yesterday’s meeting.

The name change was prompted by feedback and further review.

Valley Oaks is expected to be complete this fall and will house more than 1,000 first year students in 688 units.
