KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo Public Schools will hold the first of two community reports on progress made with their new strategic plan this evening and the public is invited.
Superintendent Darrin Slade says they have made progress in a lot of areas, and the strategic plan is a guide on how to continue that trend.
For example, he says that truancy was at high levels when he came on board, but they have managed to reduce it substantially to just 34%.
But Dr. Slade says more has to be done with that issue, and with test scores, graduation rates and all the other metrics the strategic plan measures.
Two identical sessions are planned.
The first is this evening at 6 p.m. at Milwood Magnet School.
The second is Monday March 16th, also at 6 p.m. at Linden Grove Middle School.
