LUCE COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Two men from Kalamazoo and a teenager from Battle Creek are facing charges in the Upper Peninsula for allegedly trying to smuggle drugs into the Newberry Correctional Facility in Luce County.
27-year-old Travonte Brown and 32-year-old Daquarius Turner are charged with possession with intent to distribute and bringing contraband into a prison after they put a duct taped package of 100 grams of methamphetamine and four ounces of THC wax in the prison yard.
They were arrested in a traffic stop and the 16-year-old boy from Battle Creek is facing similar charges.
The men are facing up to 20-years in prison if convicted.
