KALAMAZOO, MI – The American Red Cross operation based in Kalamazoo has joined in the disaster recovery effort in St. Joseph, Cass, and Branch counties following Friday’s deadly tornadoes.
They say since Friday, more than 30 trained Red Cross disaster workers, 90 percent of whom are volunteers, are supporting the disaster operation.
An emergency shelter that was set up at Riverside Church in Three Rivers closes today at 6:00 p.m., but Red Cross volunteers are continuing their assessments of residential damage in impacted areas.
Red Cross volunteers are distributing emergency supplies, beginning today, in Union City in Branch County. Supplies include rakes, tarps, shovels, heavy-duty gloves, and snacks and water.
