UNION LAKE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Teams from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the state surveyed the tornado damage in southwest Michigan yesterday from the four twisters that hit March 6th.
The tornadoes killed four people and destroyed dozens of homes in Union City, Three Rivers, Edwardsburg, and Clarendon Township.
The data collected will be compiled before going to Governor Whitmer and she will use it to decide if she asks for federal help.
Michigan State Police spokesperson Lauren Thompson says the weather this week was a challenge after a winter storm hit the state less than two weeks after the tornadoes.
