KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A suspected of drunk driving faces multiple charges after leading police on a chase Friday night.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy observed a vehicle traveling southbound on US-131 near Stadium Drive in an erratic manner at a high rate of speed.
Deputies noted the vehicle was unable to maintain its lane and, based on the driving behavior, suspected the driver may be impaired.
A deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver failed to comply and fled, nearly striking multiple
vehicles on the roadway.
During the pursuit, the woman’s vehicle left the roadway several times The pursuit ended when the vehicle
crashed into the median wall on eastbound I-94 near US-131.
The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was
transported to Bronson Hospital for treatment.
The Sheriff’s Office says she is currently facing charges of:
• Operating While Intoxicated
• Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement
• Open Intoxicants in a Motor Vehicle
Additionally, the woman was found to have outstanding felony warrants out of Illinois.
