KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – It will be time for a little spring cleaning this weekend.
A coalition of groups including Michigan’s Waterway Stewards, Kalamazoo City Parks, and the Western Michigan University Interfraternity Council, will be meeting at Mayor’s Riverfront Park Saturday to clean up trash, along the Kalamazoo River, the trailway and the parks.
Mike Stout is president and founder of the Waterway Stewards group and is inviting the public to join them. He says it will be their 5th cleanup event in Kalamazoo.
Stout says lunch will be on the Kalamazoo Growlers.
They say because of previous cleanups, the work required near the ballpark and Verburg Park may be relatively easy. Cleanup in the more heavily wooded riverbank near the golf course could be a little more challenging.
Stout says it’s a good idea to bring your own work gloves and for improved fit and comfort.
He adds they are planning for another cleanup later this year on the three area college campuses.
