SPRINGFIELD, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The City of Springfield and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) are investigating a reported discoloration in Helmer Creek that was first reported on Tuesday.
While the discoloration has significantly dissipated, the source remains unknown as officials, including CCSO Emergency Management and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), continue to monitor the area.
CCSO is utilizing drones to trace the waterway, and residents are advised to avoid contact with Helmer Creek until further notice.
