ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 10, 2026) – As state lawmakers return to Lansing next week after the joint Easter/Passover religious holiday, dealing the budget isn’t the only matter that they will be facing.
Legislation sponsored by suburban Detroit Senator Mallory McMorrow, a Democratic US Senate hopeful, would require hotels and motels in the state to display signage containing a hotline number for victims of human trafficking. This would augment current law that requires having the National Human Trafficking Hotline prominently in view at rest areas, airports, adult entertainment venues, and locations with a known trafficking history.
This would help in the battle against this scourge, according to Allegan County Sheriff Frank Baker.
Senate Bill 481 is currently being considered by the Upper Chamber’s Housing and Human Services Committee.
