PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Another major road project in the area gets underway today.
The City of Portage says Angling Road will be closed to through traffic from Romence Road to West Milham Avenue. The construction work requires intermittent road closures for the installation of storm sewer improvements near Kalarama Avenue and new sanitary sewer leads between Arbutus Trail and West Milham Avenue.
Local traffic for properties along Angling Road will be maintained, but access may only be available from one direction. Work will begin south of Kalarama Avenue and will move closer to West Milham Avenue later next week for the final sanitary sewer lead installation. The underground work is anticipated to be completed by Friday, July 24.
The posted detour route on Angling Road is Romence Road, Oakland Drive, and West Milham Avenue. Motorists are advised to follow signed detour routes.
The project is scheduled to be completed and Angling Road fully opened to traffic in August 2026.
