The New York Yankees placed right-handed reliever Kervin Castro on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday because of right elbow neuritis.
The move is retroactive to Monday. In a corresponding move, the Yankees recalled rookie right-hander Bradley Hanner from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Castro, 27, last pitched on Sunday, throwing a perfect 1-2-3 inning with one strikeout in a 2-1 loss in 10 innings to the visiting Atlanta Braves.
He does not have a decision with a 1.42 ERA, two walks and eight strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings over five relief appearances in his first season with New York.
For his career, Castro is 1-2 with a 4.22 ERA, 13 walks and 32 strikeouts in 32 innings over 25 games (all in relief) for the San Francisco Giants (2021-22), Chicago Cubs (2022) and Yankees.
Hanner, 27, a 21st-round pick in the 2019 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins, has not appeared in a major league game. He was 6-2 with four saves, a 2.10 ERA, 24 walks and 61 strikeouts in 51 1/3 innings over 40 games (all in relief) for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
