GALESBURG, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A man is in custody of the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office on charges of fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing, and attempted unlawful driving away of an automobile Tuesday afternoon.
A deputy tried to stop him after seeing a vehicle in Galesburg with a stolen license plate, but he fled the scene. A few minutes later, the vehicle was found abandoned on Miller Drive, and people in the area kept deputies informed of where he was running.
Just after 1:15 p.m., he was spotted by Michigan State Police troopers and sheriff’s office deputies at the Shell gas station on 35th Street in Galesburg, just off of I-94.
Officers say when he ran off again, he was concealing his hands and took a shooting stance at one point, causing them to believe he may be armed. No shots were fired, and the suspect was tased and caught after trying and failing to steal a pickup truck.
He is in the Kalamazoo County Jail awaiting arraignment.
