KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – While a large amount of Consumers Energy customers who lost power in Monday’s severe thunderstorms in southwestern Michigan are back online, crews continue working around the clock.
With more than 88,000 residential and business customers impacted, Consumers Energy says they have restored power to more than 57,000 customers since the storm’s onset, with upwards of 600 crews working to restore power to customers by tomorrow evening.
As of late Tuesday afternoon, 7,805 out of 134,629 Consumers Energy customers in Kalamazoo County were still without power, which represents about 5.8% of their customers in the county.
“Restoration is our goal, but safety and efficiency are our foundation. As we work to bring each customer back online, we want to make sure both our customers and our crews are safe,” said Jean Kang, one of Consumers Energy’s officers in charge for restoration. “We want to thank our customers for their continued patience as we move to get the lights on for every impacted customer.”
