LEROY TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 42-year-old man from Athens is fighting for his life at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo after being badly injured in a crash with a 15-year-old unlicensed driver early Friday morning.
Michigan State Police Trooper Martha Byl arrived at the scene of the crash in Calhoun County’s Leroy Township just after 12:30 a.m. and says the man’s Kia Soul was fully engulfed in flames.
She and a bystander pulled him from the car and he suffered serious head injuries and internal damage, while the other driver had taken his dad’s car for a ride without permission.
Three of his friends are also hospitalized with injuries including broken legs and fractured pelvic bones.
